Enhanced singular jet formation in oil-coated bubble bursting

چکیده

Bubbles are ubiquitous in many natural and engineering processes, bubble bursting aerosols of particular interest because their critical role mass momentum transfer across interfaces. All prior studies claim that a millimeter-sized bare at an aqueous surface produces jet drops with typical size $\boldsymbol{O}$(100 $\si{\micro\relax}$m), much larger than film $\boldsymbol{O}$(1 $\si{\micro\relax}$m) from the disintegration cap. Here, we document hitherto unknown phenomenon can be as small few microns when is coated by thin oil layer. We provide evidence faster smaller result singular dynamics oil-coated cavity collapse. The unique air-oil-water compound interface offers distinct damping mechanism to smooth out precursor capillary waves during collapse, leading more efficient focusing dominant wave thus allowing jets over wider parameter space beyond bubble. develop theoretical explanation for limits regime considering interplay among inertia, tension, viscous effects. As such contaminated bubbles widely observed, previously unrecognized fast contaminant-laden may enhance bubble-driven flux interface, contributing aerosolization airborne transmission bulk substances.

Jet formation in bubbles bursting at a free surface

We study numerically bubbles bursting at a free surface and the subsequent jet formation. The Navier-Stokes equations with a free surface and surface tension are solved using a marker-chain approach. Differentiation and boundary conditions near the free surface are satisfied using leastsquares methods. Initial conditions involve a bubble connected to the outside atmosphere by a preexisting open...

Size limits the formation of liquid jets during bubble bursting

A bubble reaching an air-liquid interface usually bursts and forms a liquid jet. Jetting is relevant to climate and health as it is a source of aerosol droplets from breaking waves. Jetting has been observed for large bubbles with radii of R≫100 μm. However, few studies have been devoted to small bubbles (R<100 μm) despite the entrainment of a large number of such bubbles in sea water. Here we ...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Centaurus A : multiple outbursts or bursting bubble ?

We present new radio observations of the brighter region of the northern lobe (the Northern Middle Lobe, NML) of Centaurus A obtained at 20 cm with the Australia Telescope Compact Array. The angular resolutions are ∼50 and ∼130 arcsec, therefore much higher than for the previously available radio images of this region. The most interesting feature detected in our images is a large-scale jet tha...
